Before getting sucked into someones review, go ahead and look at their profile. You can easily tell who leaves reviews ONLY when theyre upset and hyperfocused on the negative.
I've lived at scioto going on 4 years now. As a single adult, this has been the most comfortable/peaceful place ive lived at. Its a little nook in the city thats surrounded by many trees, bringing a lot of nature to your home. The apartments are angled and separated, so you dont feel congested. Each 1bd and 2bd has a nice little patio out front.
The amentities are not for a mother of 3. Small kitchen, small oven, little counterspace. Theres only the one sink, no dishwasher. There are dryer and washer hookups ONLY for the 2bd. But the laundry facility is decent.
Ive built a great rapport with Ray the maintenance man. Anyone whos moaning about lack of maintenance arent expressing themselves correctly. Paula has several locations shes watching over, so to try and call her office for an issue is futile. Rays number is given at the end of the office voicemail, and you can see him every morning at 9am parked next to his storage shed. Anytime ive had an issue he is there with a helping hand. If someone is calling the property management's corporate office in Michigan, theyre entitled and clueless.
This place is perfect for those who do not need much to be pleased. And who can sacrafice a little bit of luxury for affordability. In my opinion, if you're 40+ leaving negative reviews about a low end apartment you're renting, you got some priority issues.

Leasing office, if that's what they want to call it doesn't respond to voicemails or emails.

I currently live here and advise people to think hard before signing a lease. The maintenance is good here if you have small issues. I have complained for years about the stove and kitchen sink to no avail. I now have a rotten hole in my front wall and was told the owner would look at it next time he is here from Michigan. There is no on site manager, instead a manger takes care of several properties around Columbus. They have recently raised rents $60/month.

Wasn't too bad, that is until water damage begins appearing on the ceiling in your bedroom.
I called about the damage probably more than ten times spanning a year, leaving voice-mails to inform the property manager of the damage (couldn't reach anyone). Finally, after a year, she tells me it's the first time she's heard about the damage. Offered to come over and take pictures of the damage, and then...nothing. Nothing at all.
The laundry facilities are a bit of a joke. If you enjoy paying two dollars for a wash, and two dollars for a dry cycle for clothes that smell like hot tin, then hey, maybe you'll find their communal laundry services spectacular.
The time came for me to move, had to discuss breaking the lease. I called numerous times to give the date I had planned to move, and to see if there were any forms I had to fill out or financial obligations I had to fulfill. I was told I had to fill out some documents. I never received them. I checked daily for a month. Nothing. So, naturally, I proceeded with moving. I made sure to empty and clean the apartment to the best of my abilities, and left all three keys issued to me with a note giving them my phone number at the rental office on site. I made it clear to contact me and leave a voicemail so I can get back to them about settling breaking the lease.
I heard nothing at all, until I recieved a legal notice from the rental company telling me I owe them $1380 about six months after the fact.
Absolutely ridiculous. I gave them every opportunity to get in touch with me over damages to the property and breaking the lease, and this rental agency just spits in your face and dings your credit score with a $1300 collection.
Not to mention, the police were called every few weeks over domestic disputes between a few neighbors, and a neighbor of mine had his vehicle stolen and taken for a joy ride while I lived there.
Management refuses to fix things, but somehow, rent deserves to increase about $30 a month every year? Just managed by a ridiculous and unprofessional team. Take other leads before this place.

I spoke with Patti the manager and she helped me out a lot! Great apartments, very affordable! Maybe I shouldn't give away this secret, I can't believe this place is this affordable so close to everything in Columbus!
