I have never been more appalled by the morals and ethics of an apartment company before coming into contact with Cottages at Emerald Cove Savannah. My husband has been a loyal and easy tenant for years and was unfortunately shown anything but understanding and respect when it came time for us to move out. My husband went over seas to volunteer & lost his leg. He was residing in a second story apartment that is clearly not a plausible living scenario for him under his new conditions. I went to the office to explain the situation to one of the managers and she informed me she had an ADA apartment available for us to switch over to. However, the apartment she recommended was smaller & was not enough space for us because we needed another family member to move in to assist with the lifestyle change. After I contacted her a week or so later she explained we needed to pay a termination fee & a 60 day notice because she offered an ADA apartment & we refused (because it wasn’t plausible for us). Therefore, we had to pay double rent for 2 months as we struggle financially because my husband is hospitalized & i flew overseas to help him recover. Not to mention he had put several work orders in for water leakage from the ceiling, mold growing in all of our closets & on the air vents, and multiple complaints until they replaced our dishwasher because it was rusting all of our pots and pans,. After making several work orders because rent jumped up almost $700 after all the additional fees are added, the maintenance manager made a comment to us stating “if you were so unhappy with your apartment, why would you bother signing another lease.“ the trash compactor is always overfilled and piled up all over the ground every single week roughly. And to make matters worse I thought I could trust the manager of the complex with personal information about my husband.. Turns out I was wrong, she disclosed what i stated was private medical information to her husband who told another individual, who in turn told it to my husband’s family members were unaware of the current situation. I’m so appalled with everything the complex has done but feel blessed to be out of the trap they refer to as a lease. FYI your lease states that you are held responsible for rent even after death. Just a heads up, just incase you skimmed over that part.

I have called the front office on several occasions (three weeks as of today), left messages, and still no return call or email. However, I can always count on an email about my rent before the end of the month. My oven is still making a knocking sound when it's on, and maintenance just moved the racks and said the problem is resolved (Okay). Furthermore, when I turn on my ceiling fan, my lights flicker when I adjust the speed (was told that was fixed). In closing, don't worry about sending your scripted response or calling me with your scripted response like you did in the past. I love my place and the community, however, management and staff need to do better (Accountability) for the amount I'm paying in rent.

Really not sure why it takes a week for a background check. I was told it would only take a day or two. It’s been a week. I have expressed to the office that we needed to move on a timely schedule. It’s ridiculous to wait a WEEK for a background check anywhere. Lauren is very nice other than that, No one answers the office phone. Must not want any business. Save your time and move elsewhere.

Overall the staff are kind and helpful. The office feels heavily understaffed. Throughout the application and move-in process, the staff is very hard to get in touch with. They don’t respond to emails, and only answer the phone about 30% of the time. If you leave a message they don’t return your call. If you have a storage container such as PODS, make sure the pick-up time is within 48 hours after drop-off. The company delivering my container was having resourcing issues for trucks and needed to extend by an extra day, the staff was not able to accommodate the extra time and forced me to have the container dropped off in one of the vacant garage driveways quite far away from my unit. Overall, the unit is nice and the community seems quiet and safe. If you don’t mind not having an office staff available ever, it’s not such a bad place to live.

The staff are VERY helpful! The complex’s landscape is maintained very well. It’s in a great location, because you’re about 10 minutes from stores, restaurants and entertainment!

I have tried to call this apartment complex several times in regards to an application for an available unit. I submitted the application and they were quick to take the money, but will not respond to phone calls or voicemails. If I can't get a response from them during the application phase, I can't imagine dealing with them as a tenant in need of management or maintenance assistance. I've since applied to other complexes that were on top of communication and eager to assist interested individuals with the application and leasing process. This place is not worth the time or money to even apply.
