The amazing staff at West Oaks has made my brother‘s transition from Augusta, Georgia to Detroit, Michigan, smooth and loving. Shout out to every one who has touch Brian situation in any shape or form, especiallyDanielle.
This Facility has to be one of the most unsafe Facilities that I have ever visited for the elderly! There are Sketchy individuals that are allowed to just enter the premises. There is supposed to be a partnership with the Detroit Police department in correspondence with the green light system, however it is not being utilized! Cars are stolen right out of the facility! There is supposedly a security guard who can absolutely not being doing what her job description entails! When incidents occur, for example vehicles being stolen, and or stripped there is conveniently no witnesses! There needs to additional steps taken so that not only the residents are safe, but staff as well! I am overwhelmed with fear for the safety of my loved ones at this facility! I urge whoever is managing this facility to comport one’s selves as if lives depend on it! Take the necessary precautions to ensure that all people at this facility are protected from harm and or danger! How someone can have their motor vehicle looted in broad daylight is not only irresponsible but erroneous as well!
DO NOT EVER send anyone here!!!!! Hospital Social Workers should be ashamed to recommend this facility. Never have I seen or interacted with such incompetent, lazy administrators and directors. They are a Recipient Rights violation waiting to happen. There is not enough space to list all the complaints/concerns that my family and I have about this place and the staff. I can list on 1 hand the staff that are actually helpful and attentive. If i could give negative stars I would. This place SHOULD NOT be open. Not sure how they are listed as a Medicare 5 star facility but they are NOT. I recently checked with HUD and was informed that they are actually a 3 star facility. I'm not sure who owns or monitors this place as they don't have an actual website and the Nexcare website that they are listed on contains minimal information. When you ask about who is in charge, you are given nicknames, or confused looks. The Directors/Administrators don't even have business cards (or at least we didn't get any cards). Not sure how anyone in good conscious could work here. The doctor doesn't even come into the facility to check on the patients here. Medical professionals take oaths to provide ethical treatment and care. There is definitely a lack of ethical care at this place.
The staff is very rude and unprofessional. They do not give required and documented medications as listed and when my mom told them several times that she is a diabetic they told her she wasn't. I had to go up there and get with them and also call them every day several times a day about not giving my mom her proper medications. When I requested my mom be discharged it was like a task and the social worker never called me back after I left a few messages asking to start the discharge process. My family had to just remove my mom from the facility regardless of a discharge or not. I do not recommend this place to anyone for care for your loved ones!
My mom contacted covid here. Most workers there don't care about the patients needs and just ignore them. Especially the night shift. They are completely useless. They left my mom in a dirty diaper for almost 16 hours. They didn't change her bandage for a week so her foot got worse. She had to go to a hospital because of their neglect. Her room looked like a jail cell. If you love someone, don't bring them here.
This is a new post 2019.They stole my new wheelchair and gave me an old chair. The same chair I was using when I was there. The nursing staff is underpaid and short staffed but most try to keep a positive attitude. Notice I said most! There is this one nurse who only works weekends, they know who she is but they keep her on because they are so short staffed, she is so rude and disrespectful to anyone who crosses her path alone. I can not imagine what she does to anyone who is completely helpless and no one is visiting them. The rating they had when l chose West Oaks was a five star rating. Not true! Unlike me do your research. They are rated three star now and no doubt that rating is falling fast.
