Expensive rip off — $12.80 for a house drink should be illegal. Save your money and go drink somewhere nice instead of this dump.

Horrible bartender, — There was a male bartender with short hair and piercing. He was horribly rude, sassy, and was an absolute disgrace to the venue and the wider Merivale group.
A check on the service provided — Service is very bad. Too much unnecesary control
Avoid it at all costs — The worst service and the rudest staff I have encountered in Sydney. Asked to speak to the manager and it turned out to be the rude woman I was talking too. Serious customer service training required here. I won’t be back and will be telling everyone to avoid. A lot more over places to go.
Poor service — 4th Dec Thursday around 5.30 pm. Waiting to be served at the bar. Felt like if you looked different, you had to interrupt their service, let them know you were first among the 3 patrons. Escalated the issue to the manager. He felt it wasn't an issue, he articulated that there will not be a video review inspite of me telling him that he observes the unacceptable behavior, that the particular person was fully aware I was the next to be served. He concluded the matter was closed. Shocking that a customer service manager in the center of a cosmopolitan city exhibited extreme bias....
The usual Merivale scam — I went during happy hour when Merivale usually halves their ridiculous prices but found the happy hour is very limited and they deliberately steer you to the more expensive drinks. The staff sleepwalk through making the cocktails so service is extremely slow. It's probably still a better alternative to the Ivy but it's a poky, smelly place. Maybe getting the tables on George St would be worth it.
Royal George — Food was not very nice. Loud but good atmosphere. Good place if you just want to have a few with your mates
Great atmosphere and burger — Walked in for a dinner with a friend at 6:00 on a Friday night and must have found the last table in the whole place. Ordered using online app and table number. Atmosphere was friendly, bathrooms clean. Service was prompt considering how busy they were. Food was hot and the burger and chips tasted great. I would have like a few more cider options (only 2). If you want to play pool on the table downstairs, it is almost impossible given the proximity of the playing table to the dining tables, however if it was less busy it would have been fine. Overall a great experience, I would eat here again.
Fantastic customer service in a beautifully designed Elegant PUB.. — Royal George in Sydney is a NICE place to Visit Although I think that Menu MAY need to be improved a little ..I'm not gonna comment ON too much the WAY How the Bacon in a Burger was made...It may sound bad.. I THINK It was maybe that ,,DAY"..I'm pretty SURE bacon in a BURGER isn't always overcooked...;) People WHO enjoy a drinks aren't gonna have a REASON to complain too much about the Amount of it...There is plenty to choose from at the BAR, that's for SURE..And the BAR looks beautiful too...The Actual Place is Designed beautifully and it's really OLD FASHIONED so whoever likes this TYPE of style WILL probably Love it!! Staff members were really friendly, there is NO doubt they were trying to satisfy their Guests during the Visit...They've even had some interest in our OPINION about the food which I believe was GREAT!! It is a nice place, great Atmosphere in my OPINION with the possibility of Menu improvement I HOPE... I will TRY steak Next TIME, why Not... So FAR I CAN reccomend for SURE:)
Hi, we just popped in for — Hi, we just popped in for drinks before dinner, it was so hard to get in anywhere w covid limiting numbers. At the Royal George and lovely Chiara greeted us, she had such a nice manner, she helped us w covid screening & was just really sweet and approachable. Upstairs we were served by a young Asian man whom was equally as lovely. I just wanted to share a simple but positive experience we had here. We have no association or interest in this pub...we are from country Nsw.
Disgusting nachos — Don’t get the bean nachos. Very disappointing. A packet of corn chips, 10 beans and I’m not sure what else.
Food has gone entirely downhill — I ordered a chicken schnitzel, the gravy it came with was still lumpy with entire clumps of flour and it tasted like a pigs half beating testicles were dunked in luke warm water for 20 minutes. The chicken came with a a quarter of an ice berg lettuce, not chopped with the inedible stem still attached. This horrible meal cost a whopping $22. Unbelievable. Terrible, avoid this place until they stop cost cutting a lift their standards.
Ottima atmosfera — Pub carinissimo, sviluppato su due piani, buone le birre e sempre pieno di gente! Ottimo posto per passare qualche ora!!
Food & staff made a solo lunch fun! — In Sydney on business alone over the weekend. Fortunately, I tried The Royal George for lunch. It was a Saturday in the CBD ( business district) but still was a little concerned with the number of customers, maybe half a dozen, present just before noon. The bar/wait staff gave me such a warm welcome I had to stay and see it through. I tried both the recommended pale ale and rump roast with garlic butter. They were both good but perhaps made better but the staff’s continued friendliness. I was given advise right down to the best way to slice the rump roast so the garlic butter could melt and seep down into it As the time past more people came in for lunch and I saw the staff extend the same welcoming to all of them. It felt much like I was at a mates house rather than a restaurant. If your in the area, strongly recommend you swing by for a lunch.
Drinks before dinner — Nice relaxed place easy to find Happy hour 4-7pm every day and you can also get $1 Chicken wings with a dip ! Hubby got a Guinness for $7 I had bubbles for $6 also $6 spirits Pool table downstairs , nice staff Well worth a visit
Great pub — We popped in to meet a friend at lunchtime on our last day in Sydney. The food looked and smelt fantastic but we didn't eat as we were moving on somewhere later. As it pub goes it oozes great character serving a range of good beers. The pub was very busy with local workers which gave the pub a great vibe. I wished we'd sussed the pub our earlier in our holiday. Never mind we will be back next time we're in Sydney.
Good atmosphere — Happy hour 4-7pm with drinks $7 and $1 Spicy chicken wings ... delicious! Fun atmosphere with lively vibe however able to enjoy conversation and company without be a overwhelmed by the buzz. Can’t believe hadn’t found this gem!!
Decent — Visited here and ordered a rare steak - it came out medium to well done. Service was friendly and there was a good selection of tap beers.
Terrific food! — It seemed to be a favorite amount locals and we didn’t care about all the footy on the tellly but the food that we ordered was so good! I had the beef pie and if they would have given me a spoon I would have scraped the bowel with it! The drinks were a good size and tasty as well. Big thumbs up!
good time in Sydney — We had been booked into this hotel by the flight centre in Adelaide. not sure how much it cost but it must have been 1.5 to $2000 dollars. The room had everything in to cook your own meals and even an ironing board. We never used the atatched restaurant as we preferred to go to paddy's market
