Disappointing — me and my two friends were refused entry because I was drinking a can of Diet Coke outside, they claimed I was drinking upon arrival even when I explained what the can was, I’m disappointed i paid $32 for a night out with my friends and got met with angry staff instead.
Ivy pool bar — Recently went to the Ivy pool bar. Had not been there in over a year. The place was packed the rafters Service was a little slow outside so decided to eat at Uccello's
Higher disappointed — Shocking treatment. Removed from the premises as apparently “showing signs of intoxication” and we were “bouncing off the walls”. When challenged, we were denied access to CCTV for proof and refused entry without second opinion. Both security and management agreed we were not intoxicated and that we could get into another bar/nightclub but a final decision had already previously been made therefore their hands were tied. They also suggested that if any wrongdoings had been done, that we should make a complaint. We are sourly disappointed and despite having such a good night up until then, we will not be returning or recommending unless adequate decisions are made to rectify this situations. Cringeworthy — Absolutely diabolical. You pay through the nose for drinks and they serve it in those cheap disposable plastic party cups you buy in a stack of ten for a couple of bucks at woolies. They claim it's because of NSW glassing violence laws but I attended a day party when the rules do not apply. They had two crappy premixed cocktails to choose from also served in plastic cups. Sour faced staff look like they dgaf. Just a vile cringeworthy experience. Lived in Sydney my whole life but leaving this year because it's just degenerated beyond repair. Ivy is just one example of how Sydney is no longer a world class nightlife destination.
Expensive waste of time in the city — The Ivy pool bar had a great location and ambiance, but unfortunately the staff and service made it a horrible experience. The wait staff were guessing at which tables the drinks/food were supposed to go to. Then, we received a round for our table at 750pm only to be told we had to leave in 10 minutes for a private function. We had been given no prior warning. Then at exactly 8pm, we were told to finish our drinks and leave. I was in shock over how we were treated, especially after we had rung ip a pretty large tab. There are several places in Sydney that are way better...don't waste your time and energy.
TERRIBLE NO COMMUNICATION — We spent 2 hours queuing in a line, when we got to the front they told us we needed pre-sold online tickets, yet this was not communicated whilst we were spending hours in the que. there was no other option but to be turned away upon arrival to the entrance, after queuing for over 2 hours. Terrible experience.
I strongly advise against the place — The nightclub should absolutely be avoided!!! No selection at the entrance with many young people who arrive in an advanced state of intoxication and to whom the doors are opened wide even though they can barely stand up. Security agents with strong arms but clearly without brains and who do not hesitate to abuse their authority to throw you out at the slightest opportunity by inventing stories and without leaving room for dialogue. They are anything but professional and I weigh my words. Place to AVOID otherwise you will have a very bad evening. This club clearly does not deserve its reputation
Terrible Ivy — Horrible security. Aggressive, unfair, rude and insulting with no basis other than personal opinion, which was unwarranted and no proof. Terrible the reason why Sydney night life is dead. We will never come back nor my friends.
Einmal und nie wieder — Wir waren auf der Suche nach nem lustigen Abend ins Ivys gestolpert. Erst wurden 3 Mal die IDs kontrolliert nur damit der Club dann doch voll mit Kindern unter 18 war. Die größte Frechheit ist allerdings, dass die Barkeeper im Club ständig versucht haben einen über den Tisch zu ziehen und falsche Beträge berechnet haben und das unabhängig voneinander an allen Bars. Die Djs waren zudem wohl auch eher Hobbymixer. Alles in allem würde ich den Club nicht mehr besuchen. Das Restaurant haben wir nicht besucht.
We had a great time. — When we decided on Ivy, we made reservations as it has been busy on some of the days we tried. It was a bit better that we did make the reservation for two with the help of Alex and Club Bookers team. They sorted everything and we had a great time on Chicago.
the worst piece of . . . . — never go to this place. unless you want 5x overpriced drink served by pimply schoolkids with roid-rage bouncers bad-eyeing you at all points. the worst rubbish sydney has to offer
Sneaky lunch spot — My daughter and I stopped here for a bit of lunch after shopping in the city , we shared the pizza and antipasto which was delicious 🤤 it’s a club at night but recommend it as a great spot mid week for a spot of lunch if your on a girls shop
A rort, don’t come here. — A rort, don’t come here. You walk outside and try to head back in and they will ask you pay again . Nothing good inside anyway.
One of the best. — We had visited Ivy for functions but never got a chance to visit the bar on the 4th floor. The place teems with security staff, best is to ask the guys manning the front entrance to point out the lift which takes you up there. We were impressed by the ambiance of the bars, dotted with low pools, vertical gardens and the choice of seatings. Choose our drinks from the nearest bar and sat close to pools. There is quite a lot of foot traffic, both visitors and wait staff which sometimes overwhelms. Finger food is available, spent around an hour and hope go there again.
Really just not good enough I am afraid — We were at a function in the IVY Penthouse this weekend for a friends birthday, and they were spending up big. French Champagne, band, wait staff, food, the works. But. . . the air-conditioning was not working and we were DYING! It was a warm day and we were all dressed up, and we were soaking wet by 7.30pm. Managament tell us "its 18 degrees in here" and brushed us off. Eventually, when their own staff started to collapse they finally acknowleged it and started to hand out wet towels. Yes, wet towels. No large fans in the room, did not open the doors, no portable coolers, nothing but wet towels. I am afraid it is just NOT good enough, and if it had been my function I would withhold $5,000 because it completely ruined what was a great night. Really, really, really poor. If I was a manager my staff would have been off to a local hardware store for large fans, portable coolers, something. Not just NOTHING. The shift supervisor needs sacking and my friends need compensation and I need a new shirt. . .
Absolute joke — This place is an absolute joke. My friend and I were treated absolutely disgusting by the manager and security. We bought one drink inside and were told we were too “intoxicated”. The manager rolled her eyes repeatedly at us when we politely questioned her and stated we thought they had mistaken us for others. I felt she was exceptionally rude to me and there is not a chance I will be going back there. The Halo security team on the other hand were fantastic with us
No Attention to Details — This place really need to thank its fame and name, to be honest it is so poor. It has a great potential and could be so posh but they do not care about details at all. They have no menus around, I have asked a menu to the bar lady and she grabbed a filthy and rusty menu and literally threw it to me. No one was able to explain how it would work to order, where to seat, they were not sure about prices, they did not welcome us and gave us information of any type. Tables are falling apart, plastic glasses in where they serve cocktails are old and gross. Uniforms of waiters are the worst, shorts, socks and dirty shirts, they are only walking around doing nothing. The environment was okay because of the music which at least was great. If they would start caring a bit more it would be the best place in sydney.
OK food.. people come to people watch — Yeah its Ivy. It is famous. People like to come here cos they can'y think of where else to go. Prices here are not cheap but as expected in this area. Better to come to drink and meet people rather than come for the restaurant.
POOF DOOF Sydney - Promoter Richie - Rude, Obnoxious & Entitled — We booked a VIP booth with a few friends to enjoy our Saturday night away from the crowds and up in a private area at the new Poof Doof Sydney at the Ivy. About half way through the night this guy and his friends step over the rope separating the private area and crowd up our private space which we had paid for. I asked security to remove them and they did. (I would like to praise the doof team and security for being swift with this). Everyone left gracefully and there was no issue, except for one person named Richie who claimed to be the "head promoter" which I later found out that 1) he is not only NOT the head promoter, but 2) isn't even a full time employee of the club, just an 'Instagram promoter / representative'. He tried to bribe us with drink tickets so he can stay in our area (why would I want free drink tickets when I have just spent $500 on a bottle of champagne?). Essentially he threw a huge hissy fit infant of my and my clients who I was entertaining that night, claiming to be friends with the GM, that he "runs this place" and that the staff "should know who the F I am". Basically it was like watching a petulant child not get his way. I love the Poof Doof Brand and have always had an amazing experience in Melbourne, but this promoter simply tainted my view of the Sydney venue. I am aware that this man does represent the Poof Doof venue in Sydney and I highly doubt that the Poof Doof team would agree his behaviour was one that is appropriate with VIP patrons / high paying customers that have just spend hundreds of dollars on their night. To sum things up, it was nothing short of rude, obnoxious and entitled behaviour coming from someone that is supposed to uphold a high standard of brand image. I still can't believe that a promoter of the venue would assume he can just bring a group of friends into a VIP area that was reserved and already had people in it because he felt like doing so. Where is the respect and privacy that comes with private booth's/ VIP nightlife?
A faire au moins une fois! — C'est LA boite de Sydney! Oui les contrôles sont très stricts,oui c'est assez chère pour une boite là bas et oui la plupart des gens ys ont super snobs mais allez y au moins une fois ça vaut le détour. On se croirait dans un film! :-)
