No value — Food portions were minuscule seriously noodles and rice is so cheap to buy I’m in amazement why you would serve such small service’s chicken dish was tiny as well ,service was non existent.We have been to many restaurants this was very disappointing , food very little that we got , tasted fine.
Yummy yummy yummy — Situated in the basement of the Burns Philp Building, walking in it is like stepping back in time to an old school Chinese restaurant. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. We were a large group and decided to have the banquet menu, which was a fabulous choice as we got to try a variety of different meals on the menu. We also went for the bottomless drinks package which I think was a complete bargain at $79 a head and included any of the amazingly curated cocktails and Verve champagne. The highlights on the menu for us were the BBQ Pork belly and the white chocolate baked Alaska but to be honest, everything was good. The whole experience was fabulous and I can highly recommend. We will definitely be back for more.
Great New Place — Good Luck is a great new addition to the Merivale Group. Set in the basement of the beautiful Burns Philp building on Bridge Street it has the immaculate fitout you might expect. Good Luck is a fusion of different cuisines with the decor being old school Chinese. Varied menu was great with many choices. We had noodles and BBQ pork which were both great. Service was excellent as well.
Interesting experience — I didn’t know what to expect when we went for a work lunch at Good Luck. I assumed by the name that the food would be Chinese but the menu was a surprise. I guess it was a fusion of Asian, Italian and probably a few others. The food was wonderful. There were 9 of us so we ordered the set menu. Everything from the pickles and peanuts to the soft serve with caramel was interesting and delicious. I especially loved the grilled prawns and the pork spring rolls. The restaurant is in the basement of an old building and it has been fitted out with lots of bright colours, chandeliers, mirrors, paintings and even small vintage TV sets. The one near us was showing Bewitched on the day we were there. Service was a bit strange. The staff was very friendly but there was quite a long wait between the first few courses but then the rest of the food came out one after the other in quick succession and we ended up with a table full of food. All in all it was an enjoyable lunch.
They may need Good Luck — Another Merivale project. The fit out as all the other venues is faultless. Amazing attention to detail. Staff, again impeccable, great knowledge and friendly. We ordered a good cross section off the menu. The menu could be a bit of a surprise if you didn’t check it out before you went. The name “Good Luck” which has been taken I’m guessing from other restaurants overseas does give the impression of being Chinese style food. It’s not. Having said that we were told buy our server that “the brief to chefs was to have fun and do whatever they want” Well that sort of sums it up. What we had was made with good produce and skill. It was very eclectic and some of the dishes were great others didn’t hit the mark. Unfortunately the Smokey flavour that was used was way too overbearing for our tastes. It was ok for one dish but not to be used on several. The wine lists were well designed and comprehensive. The value for money was medium level, fairly expensive. Good Luck….
