I do not recommend this company. The staff is unkind, they made us wait more than an hour at the airport for pickup. When the car was parked someone hit the light in the side mirror, sgk valued the damage at 380 euros (the employee made a phone call - not sure where - on Sunday afternoon). photo of the damage attached. Totally the worse rental in world, we’ve already rented car in saloniki about 15times and this was the worse! Be preapared that u will get another car than u picked (when u travel with a lot of staff boot space its important). In airport u will wait for an hour (other companies just pick u right away) and skg was saing that they were on airport and were going with bus both sides but we were waiting with onother family for an hour (drive to their point takes about 6-7 min…) You also get not fully tanked car so you need to start with petrol station… And lastly they priced broken mirror (it was broken on the street during night)for 370€ and the cost of whole new mirror for focus on internet is 45€!!! Be aware and dont pick this company! The staff is also not nice and cant comunicate in english…
Rip-off! Stay away from this rental company! Rented a car for 6 days with SKG Car rental Thessaloniki Airport through an online booking provider. Booked a package with "fair tank regulation: full/full", received an old KIA Ceed station wagon with 100.000km and the staff said tank is 1/4 and we have to return it with 1/4. Discussions did not help. We returned the car with light traces of sand that have been caused by our suitcases (see photo) and we had to pay an extra cleaning fee of 15€. This is a vacation region. Do you really expect to receive the car as perfectly clean back as you rent it? Do you expect your clients to vacuum clean before they return it? That's just ridiciolous. I have rented more than 100 cars in my life all over the world and never experienced something like this. I will definitely send a complain letter to the booking operator, especially as our contract details have not been respected (tank regulation). Hope that they do not cooperate with SKG cars any more.
Pickup was decent from the airport - called the company when we landed early (found the number from the voucher, as we’d booked through third party website) and they picked up straight away and told us where to meet the pickup van. Took longer than expected to pick us up, though, we were waiting for a while but wasn’t a huge issue. Collection of car was quick and easy, had to have credit card (not amex) and license, which they do say in the confirmation email, and placed a €850 freeze on the card, which was explained in the email and which is standard in a few places. Rental price was incredibly cheap, even had an additional driver for no extra cost. Car was in good condition, no damage and no issues - easy to drive. The woman at SKG explained to us fairly that we should take our own pictures of the car , and made an effort to explain the contract to us - we felt she was on our side and was helping us protect ourselves in case of any accident. We thought we’d bought no excess insurance from the booking process but turned out we hadn’t, so bought it online there and then instead, which I recommend, because driving is wild in Greece - no indicating, cars don’t really stick to lanes and no one goes the speed limit. And even small scratches cost a lot to fix - so excess insurance is well worth the cost. That said, we had no issues returning the car, handover was done really quickly and they didn’t claim any issues, though the external of the car had got pretty dirty from city dust and country motorway driving, so I’d been concerned about that. They dropped us at the airport quickly. Very friendly and fair, and for the price it was a fantastic option.
The pick up of the car is not as stated. I have been informed that a staff member will be waiting at the arrival hall, which is not true. You actually need to call the rental company, and walk for around 5 minutes (with your 3 big luggages - if you travel like me) until you find a parking where a staff member will be arriving to pick you up. Once you get picked up, they drive out of the airport area to their office. Here will be talked downt by the staff member. They are very rude and really dont care about you. I forgot my Visa credit card at home, but had a photo on my phone. They did not want to accept it. It was ridiculous. I offered to have my mum show it to them on FaceFime, but refused. I had to add another driver, without an actual driving licence, and they charged me £48 for that. This was my partner so he can give his credit card. I travel every year and rent a car each time. And this renting company is the WORST of them all. I highly recommend to avoid them if you can. For the price fhey charge, you can definitely can find a much better company. Beware! They have at least 3 differet Google accounts & loads of negative reviews. I made the mistake not to look it up & ended up booking with them. Oh, and if you have the unfortunate event to scratch the bumper in the front, you will get charged 380Euros!!! REPLY TO SKG COMMENT: It only took you 2 months to reply to my complaint/feedback. I wonder why? Too busy deleting all the other Google My Business Accounts? Or too busy adding fake reviews?
