Salt Lake City KOA Holiday

Walked in off the street to ask a quick question. Said thanks & left immediately. Nothing whatsoever went wrong in the interaction. It was abundantly clear I was headed in the direction of the sidewalk to exit the park, stopping briefly in front of the KOA sign to snap a picture of the entrance/signs. Was about halfway to the street (very close) when this same staff walked out to hostilely bark at me, "You need to leave now, this is private property." Excuse me? What part of walking away indicated I was not leaving? I turned around & said yes, of course I was leaving, that I had just wanted to take a photo. Very strange. However, she did get an much needed opportunity to exercise by walking outside the way she did, so there's that.

Charged us $126 plus tax for one nights stay! We had to have a long area for our motorhome and towing trailer. It was nice to have the electrical and water hookup. However, they place the sewer hookup farther away so you can't reach it. They sell extra hosing units for $100! If the price of the one night stay was much cheaper, we might have purchased the extra hose. So in the morning we just backed it up so our hose could reach the sewer.

To be honest, for the location, the campground itself isn’t bad. The surrounding area is loaded with coke heads and homeless in every direction. It’s an inner city campground, so it’s unavoidable. They don’t spill into the campground though. The fully paved sites are the best. The others with the “grass” definitely need some TLC. It’s just a dirt patch with some spotty grass. The water pressure here is exceptionally high, so I recommend a pressure regulator, available for purchase at the front desk if you don’t have one. The facilities are relatively well-maintained. From the pool, to the public washrooms, to the laundry facilities. The only real downside we experienced with our stay there is the staff at the front desk. Picture, if you will, a group of miserable middle-aged women who look like they want to throw themselves into traffic anytime anyone walks through the door. They were never pleasant, never cracked a smile, and never made us feel welcome in anyway. It was awkward ever having to go in there and deal with them - and they were ALL like that, no matter what time of day or day of the week. The maintenance guys and ground keepers however, were always super chipper, waving and saying hello as they drove by in their little golf carts. A couple of them would even stop regularly and ask how our day was going, etc. Overall not an awful place to stay just be prepared for the grey cloud of misery that hangs over the main office/front desk.

We stayed at KOA Salt Lake City over the weekend and were incredibly disappointed with our stay. When initially asking staff if we could upgrade to a cabin after seeing the area, we were told there wasn’t one available. When I mentioned there was one online, suddenly there was one available. My friend and I did not feel safe and expressed this to the staff. We stayed in a cabin and the air conditioner was so loud, we got absolutely no sleep. The bathrooms were disgusting being only washed once per day by the looks - there was hair all through the sink and murky water at the bottom of the shower. We made the mistake of going for a walk to the 7 Eleven 10 min away and found homeless surrounding the area. Be aware not to go here with kids as we saw some sights we don’t want to see again! Only good part was the pool and the fun games. Not worth the $200 spent.

Right in the middle of town, nearby lots of food and grocery stores. They have a car wash connected to the KOA camp. Super friendly staff, very helpful! The office is open until 9pm, they have cold drinks, snacks, items you may need for camping, etc. They have a pool that's open until 9pm and lots of community games for kids and adults. There are several community fire pits and two bathrooms on each side of the park, one of them has hot showers attached. Everything requires a key code to get in, which made us feel safe being so close to the city. The tent site was mostly dirt, but there was lots of tree coverage which was nice. A picnic table at each site and a parking spot for your vehicle. They have an arcade/family room with a/c, video games, television and brochures on the area. Definitely worth a night's stay, our family thoroughly enjoyed it!
