I've visited Michelle at The Art House twice now, and both times were heaven. The first time was a few years ago for the "Borgarnes Film Freaks" film festival (coincidentally, the title of the film I screened was BFFs), and I loved getting to meet so many locals and experience the beautiful art, nature, and thermal baths in the area. And, as it was winter, the Northern Lights made a memorable appearance as well. The second visit, in January of 2022, was equally memorable. Michelle made us immediately feel at home, and we were grateful for her hospitality. I feel fortunate to consider Michelle a friend now, and I admire the work she has done to foster the arts in Borgarnes. I look forward to returning again.

The Art House Borgarnes is a magical place where you can let your imagination free and step into the unknown within you!. Michelle creates a comforting and encouraging atmosphere for experiments and joy. Five star experience!
I exhibited with other three artist there and I was amazed by the space itself, it is like entering another realm, an amazing artistic atmosphere inside, a very honest art space, and outside, with a unique placement that allows visitors and artists to become part of the landscape. Vibrant, colourful ad cheerful, just as Michelle, the owner of the space, I highly recommend anyone, artistic or not, to visit this unique space!
I exhibited my artwork at Art House Borganes and had a fantastic time! Michelle is an amazing artist and host and has done an incredible job in making her house an art hub. I had lovely artistic encounters and conversations and the place is amazing!
The Art House Borgarnes is one of Iceland’s hidden gems – I would even consider it one of the country’s wonders. The space, as well as the owner, Michelle Bird, cultivates a warm and inviting space to learn and to grow. In a country where one can feel very small, one can’t help but to be filled with a sense of purpose and belonging when overlooking an edge of the world in this art house. The Art House is also located in one of Iceland’s most significant communities, Borgarnes, where some of the most impressive and culturally significant sagas have taken place. The small yet ambitious town has an impressive cultural center, The Settlement Center, that The Art House Borgarnes continuously collaborates with and contributes to. I highly recommend this space and can’t wait to revisit, myself, in the future.
