Great atmosphere and a really good night at The Press. Special shoutout to the Security Guard Jay! Super friendly, professional and made everyone feel welcome. Great guy!

Love this place. Just a bit disappointed with the music choice, I’m not sure the DJ is reading the room to notice people leaving when the music doesn’t amplify the vibe of the people. Otherwise, the staff were lovely, the bartenders are also very nice and smiling, the band is incredible however it would be great to hear them sing some other songs? Especially since they’re so talented. Beautiful atmosphere and decor. Upon leaving there were quite a few strange people hassling my girlfriends and I near the taxi stand, and the security guard, Jay came to our assistance and stood with us until our uber arrived, he also opened the door for us - and was so kind and gentlemanly. He was very professional and amplified the overall calibre of this place. It’s a Beautiful club for Sydney, finally !

I absolutely love this place and would highly recommend it. The drinks are amazing, the atmosphere is great, and the staff are always so friendly and welcoming. A special mention to Jay and Anne, who were incredibly professional and kind when I found myself in a difficult and delicate situation one evening. They immediately took control of the situation, handled everything calmly and professionally, and made sure I felt completely safe and looked after. It really makes a difference knowing you’re in a place where the staff genuinely care about their guests. Thank you, Jay and Anne!!

The venue itself is really nice inside, which makes the experience even more disappointing. Unfortunately, the manager we dealt with was one of the rudest people I’ve ever encountered. We went on Friday night for a drink after dinner. My friend had booked a table without realising there was a $100 per person minimum spend. Once we realised, we politely explained that we were happy to pay for the drinks we had already ordered and leave. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the manager became extremely aggressive and rude. He was yelling at us, repeatedly getting in our faces and behaving in a very intimidating manner. It was completely unnecessary and made what should have been a simple situation incredibly uncomfortable. We eventually compromised and agreed to pay $300 in total, which was fair, but getting to that point was an awful experience. It’s a shame because the venue itself is beautiful, but the way we were treated by the manager completely ruined our night. Management should seriously reconsider how customers are spoken to and treated.

I just wanted to give a special mention to one of the security guys at The Press. His name was jay, I was by myself and needed to get an Uber home, and he was an absolute gentleman. He helped me organise my Uber and stayed with me until it arrived to make sure I got home safely. It was such a kind and thoughtful thing to do, and I really appreciated how respectful and genuinely caring he was. It made me feel safe and looked after, and I just wanted to acknowledge him because people like that deserve recognition. Thank you so much — you’re an absolute credit to The Press! ❤️

What a great vibe we were greeted with great service . We had an own private booth highly recommended live music playing really fun . Rob the manger always smiling and making the night memorable great host . Definitely returning .🙌🏻 Mangs ✌️

Been here a couple times was super fun. Last time I came here we got asked to leave the line because it was at maximum capacity, turned around and everyone behind us was still there. Not too sure why they want some drunk old people in there instead of some hot young girls who are better advertisement then they could ever imagine. Don’t be rude. Embarrassed us infront of many people.

Booked two booths 6 weeks in advance for 15-20 people for my partner’s and my best mate’s birthday celebrations. When we arrived, the bouncer immediately denied one of the group entry because he took a sip of booze from a mini-bottle out front. Fair, but draconian, perhaps. When we arrived at our booths, the first 5-6 people to arrive were sitting there without a drink because the one waitress assigned to us (a small Asian lady with dyed blonde hair) was point blank refusing to serve anyone at all until I arrived and “guaranteed the minimum spend”. After speaking with this rather officious person, she thrust a drinks list in my face and insisted that I order a large bottle of vodka for $1,300. I politely declined and requested that our friends be allowed to order what they wanted to drink from the menu. This seemed to irritate her a lot. Heaven forbid that each individual in a drinking establishment should be permitted to choose what they feel like drinking and have it provided to them by the people paid to deliver it…. Having successfully negotiated my way through this political minefield, I was relaxing with my best friend having a heartily-bellowed chat (the band was deafeningly loud - much more so than on any previous visit to Press - when I was rudely interrupted by our waitress, who had kindly come to remind me that we still hadn’t reached minimum spend. Fair enough too. The night was wearing on and at 11:30pm, we were fast closing on the 2:30am “last drinks” call. I told her we’d be ordering again soon. Unfortunately, because that hadn’t occurred within 3 minutes, she came to remind me again and 11:38 and yet again at 11:45. Completely understandable. There was no way 15 of us were going to manage to order another $300 worth of drinks in 3 hours, especially at the bargain prices on offer there. To ease her anxiety, I relented and ordered a $600 bottle of pretty average vodka that retails for about $75 at Dan’s, and asked her to arrange 15 vodka shots and some vodka/lime/sodas with the remainder. I didn’t realise ahead of time, but apparently this, too, was a major faux pas. She recruited a colleague to the cause, and in amongst the loud “tutting” audible even over the band, they cobbled together the minimum necessary, and handed them to us, producing the $2,100 bill immediately after. I have never felt so unwelcome, so hurried or so harassed in a bar in my life. We could not wait to get out of there. I’ve been to Press many times, and up until this one, they had all been fantastic. This was supposed to be a fun and special night, but the waitress last week completely spoiled it for everyone, including the two people who had been looking forward to it as the culmination of their birthday celebrations.

Don’t waste your time. As soon as you walk in they push you to buy drinks and if you don’t spend enough you will get kicked out

Just what Sydney needs. Another pretentious bar for people who “look” classy, regardless of character. I was in good form on my brother’s 57th birthday, catching up with old friends. We walked from a restaurant a few blocks away. The door staff told me they had watched my behaviour on camera from 100 metres away and I was refused entry. Nobody said I looked intoxicated (I wasn’t) so I assume it was my outfit, or maybe the way I walk? Fair enough, my shoes were pretty old and shitty… But the rude cross examination by door staff made me feel like I’d committed a crime. I was singled out in a large group of people, all who entered without me. Oh well… Once I found out it was a Justin Hemmes bar, I was relieved. His places are all like that, aren’t they? Style over substance. Probably not my scene, I reckon I’m happier being an outsider.

Love the atmosphere- think classic, glamorous, and intimate old Hollywood charm style bar with uniformed big band (places Marylin Monroe and Jane Russell may have frequented) . It's so refreshing to have a place that values standards. There are plenty of venues in Sydney where you can turn up in a T-shirt and running shoes, but I love that this is somewhere I can dress up, enjoy exceptional music, great entertainment, and delicious drinks while wearing my best. Please never lower your standards, we need more places like this!

The main entrance is in Bridge Lane and initially was hard to find, once inside it is the back entrance within the Establishment. Be warned they have a strict dress code, which when you get there, having everyone dressed up adds to the atmosphere. We were here for a birthday and hired out the karaoke room where they supply a waitress. After we went to the main part of the bar which is just beautiful. It could easily be somewhere in Europe. They have live music along with DJs. The prices are definitely on the high side, with booths having a minimum spend. This is definitely somewhere to go if you want something special.
