Worst in the nation, I had very miserable experiences during my mother cancer treatment. I believe there are better options than Mayo Clinic specially for Cancer.

I’m sharing experience of brother. He went to Methodist Hospital for chemotherapy. When they were inserting the IV they messed up big time. His arm swelled up, is very red AND very painful. He has been back to ER three times and admitted every time. I’m doubtful that they know what they’re treating. I’m not happy and he definitely is not!

They had given my wife the best care and gave us the best communication and information

I would recommend anyone I love to go -anywhere- else for treatment. These doctors at Mayo have the competence of Barney Fife, the warmth of a TSA agent, and the responsiveness of a man whose been unhappily married for 40 years. The medications they have me try, that have millions of dollars of research behind them, are as effective as homeopathy. The difference being that Mayo's prescription costs $7,000 a dose. It takes weeks to even get on the calendar when my symptoms are serious. Their immediate remedy is to go the ED, which they know very well isn't a place for specialized long term treatment, but at least it gets me out of their hair, right? I had to fire one of my specialists here. They treat patients like a number, like they're on an assembly line looking to get the best pharmaceutical kickbacks by cycling through the most patients they can get away with.

Mayo isn't just an inspired conglomerate of the world's best medical talents under one roof, although it is absolutely that. Mayo is an example of utopia in management. It seems that every single human that draws a paycheck from this institution is onboard to be excellent. I have never seen anything like it. From the amazing, and amazingly kind urologist Dr. Nick Warner, who resolved three years of misery for my father without making an incision, to all the nurses, to the assistants, to the coffee folks, to the security guards, to the employees emptying the wastebaskets, there is a pride, a unity of purpose. PS The meals my father received during his stay in the Eisenberg building of the downtown hospital were on par with what we would expect in a restaurant.
