I have been seeing Dr. Mumford for almost 5 years and I would not go anywhere. The office staff is very helpful!

I went in looking for an eye dr closer to me. They were fine. The quality of their lenses is not good. I payed about 1k after insurance for my glasses. The lenses were off when I got the glasses, which they did order new ones for me. Second try is just as bad. The lenses are very plasticity and I can't see anything. I will not go back to this eye dr.
Everything from start to finish, was so great! My son (25yrs) discovered this amazing eye clinic when he was checking Google for reputable places to use near his house. The staff inside is SO KIND and helpful, even before I got there (helped me with precheck via texts)! The doctors were extremely thorough and answered all of our questions, regarding issues with my son's eyes. The eye techs beforehand were very quick and efficient, as well! Lastly, when we went to pick out glasses, the ophthalmologists were very patient, and even honest enough to suggest other options for my son, when he wasn't sure about a frame. Moreover, we were so impressed with IEC, that my 22yr old daughter switched to the doctors here from her previous eye doctor in Matthews! Not only that, but my 10yr old daughter was also seen by them, and felt so completely at ease, that she wasn't even afraid to pick out glasses for herself, after her very first eye check up here! Innovative Eye Care is truly impressive, all around, and I highly recommend them! N Peterson
Disgusting customer service. I have never been treated so poorly by a business. Zero human skills. We were snowed in at the mountains in the morning, and still made it to our 11:00 appointment. We were ONE minute after the 10 minute late policy (who has a TEN minute policy btw) and they turned us away. Mind you, there wasn't a single person waiting to been seen. And she said it with a smile- like a possessed robot.
At first glance, Innovative Eye Care seems like a beautiful place to get glasses but you'd be only half right. I had an eye exam for contact lenses there today and was really impressed after being warmly welcomed at reception. First, the practice was referred to me by my ophthalmologist at CEENTA (because CEENTA no longer does contact lens exams). Next, everyone with whom I interacted was friendly yet professional. Next, it was CLEAN! I felt like I could have eaten off the floor; for a medical practice that should be a given but it's not, so I don't want to take this for granted. Also, information they need prior to the appointment is easy to complete online before coming in, so I got there 10 minutes before my appointment and had time for coffee and a quick game on my phone. I feel like my eye exam was comprehensive and Dr. Krisa and Optemetric Tech Ania were very patient and professional. Last, as a teacher I have to look at pricing and I felt that it was very fair. Highly recommend for customer service, medical service and pricing.
I've had my eyes examined here several times and always had a good experience. They have modern equipment, the practitioners were knowledgeable and polite, and the facility is clean. However, my last experience made me leave this practice and find another. Several years ago, before going to this practice, I had an inflammation in my eye called episcleritis. It is a relatively minor condition that resolves on its own in time, but there are prescription eyedrops that can help with discomfort in the meantime. (It can be quite uncomfortable without them.) Knowing what it felt like when I've had it before, one day when I had a similar feeling in my eye I suspected that I again was having a bout of episcleritis. I called innovative eyecare to try to get in for an appointment. I got their voicemail. It was around 1pm on a Friday and they were supposed to be open, but it was MLK day weekend so they had apparently closed early that day ahead of the long weekend. No problem. Their voicemail message had instructions about what to do if this was an emergency. I did that. No call back. I called again on Saturday to leave an emergency message again. Both times I explained what I suspected was happening and that I was wondering if it was possible to call in a prescription for the eye drops. No call back on Saturday either. No call back on Sunday or on MLK day. I spent much of the weekend in quite a bit of discomfort but luckily by Monday evening the discomfort had started to resolve. On Tuesday morning I finally get a call from innovative. I was pissed at this point so didn't even bother to answer, but the voicemail they left was someone saying that they had received my voicemail and were just giving me a call back. No mention of the fact that I had left two emergency messages, no apology, nothing. I never called them back... And they never called me again either. I certainly understand that they may have ultimately said that they couldn't have called in the prescription without seeing me in person, but my issue was not that. It was that I left an emergency message, on the line that had instructions about emergency after hour procedures, and I received a call back to my emergency message FOUR days later. Didn't make me feel cared for or make me feel confident about the practice. So, no matter how clean the facility or modern the equipment, I went elsewhere.
Had been to and really liked this place before - even referred friends there. However, I am very disappointed at the lack of attention, care, and assistance I received by Dr. Kenning since returning. My visit for the eye exam and contacts fitting was fine, but I received little help finding the right contacts for me- especially given this is my first time with them. After three samples (1 monovision, 2 multifocal), and no assistance (I was told to just pick them up or get them mailed), and only emails from the office assistant to provide feedback, I was emailed and told that Dr. Kenning stated that "we have tried all available contact lenses at this time so unfortunately we don't have any other options for you at this time". My friend is currently going through the same process with another doctor at this practice and has a better experience (fitting, sampling contacts - more than 3, their help in office, ordering contacts). I wish I had seen her, instead of Dr. Kenning, if anyone at this practice. Very disappointed and discouraged.
I may have reviewed this establishment when I first went years ago. But today it just confirmed what a wonderful place this is. I wish I had gotten the names of the woman at the front desk, and the technician that helped adjust my frames - both could not have been nicer or more efficient. Such a pleasant experience. If you are looking for eyewear or an optometrist - look no further. Very professional!
I first discovered Innovative Eye Care in 2014, I had just moved to Charlotte and was establishing all new relationships for my healthcare needs. Back then, it was a burgeoning eye care center that left a lasting impression on me. Dr. Mumford and her small team were the epitome of professionalism, offering top-notch patient services and boasting an impressive selection of eyeglass frames. Over the years, I watched as Innovative Eye Care grew in popularity and size. Unfortunately, it seems that as they expanded, their commitment to exceptional patient care began to wane. My most recent visit highlighted this unfortunate decline. I walked into the clinic with the intention of replacing my computer glasses which I lost over the weekend, an essential tool in my daily work routine. To my disbelief, I was informed that my prescription had expired less than a week earlier and I could not order a replacement pair. I asked if they could make an exception expressing how important my computer glasses are for me to be able to work effectively. I was told that NO ONE in the practice could override this requirement and that Dr Mumford was out for two weeks on vacation. I was offered to be put on the cancellations wait list and hope that I could get in with one of the other two doctors that have joined the practice as it has continued to grow and expand. There was no timeline on if or when I might be able to see another doctor and no regard that they were leaving me in a very bad situation. As someone who relies heavily on these glasses to make a living and support my family, I was shocked and disheartened by their response. What disappointed me most was the apparent lack of consideration for my situation. Rather than attempting to accommodate or expedite an annual exam, the staff seemed indifferent to my situation. The urgency and importance of the matter were seemingly lost on them, and this lack of empathy left me feeling helpless and frustrated. In the past, I could count on Innovative Eye Care to go above and beyond for their patients. However, it appears that their growth has come at the expense of the personalized and caring service that initially set them apart. Regrettably, my recent experience has left me without the computer glasses I desperately need to work effectively.
Nicole at the front desk is very sweet and helpful at getting our insurance information figured out and easing our minds about finding a new eye doctor, even willing to crack a joke or two. Can't wait to come in. Great place, very modern and upscale.
I have been going for a couple of years now, and for the most part, they do I good job. But recently have nothing but trouble. I called in February to schedule my appointment and was told I couldn't get an appointment until May 5th. So I booked my appointment for then while making arrangements to get off work early. About two hours before my appointment, I received a call saying that the doctor is not available and I would need to reschedule for a different day. So it was scheduled a couple of weeks later. So, again on the day of my appointment, received another call saying the doctor is not available and I will have to reschedule. This is twice I adjusted my work schedule to a appointment and twice had to reschedule. I can't say that I will return and am currently looking for a new eye doctor.
Thorough and super efficient. I got a text asking them to let them know when I arrive. They responded right away to come in (on time) and I immediately went into a room to start the exam from a technician and then with Dr. Barrett. There was virtually no waiting at all and they performed far more tests than I have ever had during an annual eye exam. Check out process was fast and easy as well. Entire staff including Dr. Barrett were really friendly and personable. Looks like I found the right spot!
I tried to go see my eye doctor today, who is lovely and was met at the door by a very rude employee who didn't even let me in the door. She told me they were all full today and the I should go to Spectrum eye care because they have more doctors. I don't think Dr Mumford would appreciate that at all. Dr Mumford has been my dr for several years. I have a stye that I've been putting over the counter medicine for 3 days but now my under eye is getting puffing. It would have taken a minute to look at but she was having none of it. I guess I start going to Spectrum if they can squeeze me in
Good exam but I had to try on glasses fitting in the parking lot . NO thanks
3 stars for the exam and doctor visit. I thought the exam went great and I felt like the doctor was very knowledgeable and cared about my concerns being that I have a lot of hereditary eye concerns. Horrible service when checking out though! I walked out to look at glasses and when I had some selected, someone asked if I was done, then after inputting information into the computer told me I could swipe my card. I said well how much is it? Received the total then swiped my card. She said thank you and got up and left. Totally my fault for not standing up for myself. Later I realized I never even received a receipt and had no idea what I had even paid for. The employee was just so eager for me to pay and leave. I emailed later for my receipt and realized insurance was not applied to my frames. I was not given any information on where my glasses were going or when to expect them, etc. Nothing! Called back again to receive that information. When I did receive my glasses they were good, just not a great fit, however I will deal with it since I don't have any desire to go back. I would consider going back to the doctor since I take my eye care seriously but would not even attempt to purchase glasses.
Great experience! Staff was efficient and courteous. I felt very safe - you have to text when you arrive and they will let you know when you can enter then they take your temperature and have you use hand sanitizer. Everyone was wearing masks and everything was sanitized between customers. I saw Dr. Barrett and would highly recommend her!
Amazing staff and thorough safety practices. I'm so thankful I found this place. Can't wait to receive my new glasses.
This is a wonderful establishment - clean, efficient, well-managed, with a friendly and capable staff. Dr. Fogleman is such a kind, beautiful, and caring person - I couldn't recommend her enough. The glasses selection is not overwhelming, since it seems to be limited to the most current styles, materials, and fashion trends. Contact pricing is comparable to 1800contacts. Parking is ample. I'm not sure there's anything they could do better.
I've been a repeat customer for eye exams, glasses and contact lenses. Innovative Eye Care is uniformly and consistently warm, solicitous and professional. The glasses are gonna cost more than the online cheapies in their race to the bottom line. But to me it's a value proposition. The glasses are stylish and professional and you're not gonna look like everyone else.
My mom highly recommended Dr. Mumford, and I see why. She is one of the most nice, caring, attentive and knowledgeable doctors that I've seen across all types of practices! Even though it took me a little bit to get a new-patient appointment (and now I can see why she'd be booked up), I feel fortunate that she was even taking new patients. The place is so warm, inviting, well decorated, and almost spa-like. And like another reviewer mentioned, it doesn't hurt that it's next to Duck Donuts (another great place, if you've never been). So overall, would highly, highly recommend!
