GoBoat Birmingham

Hired a boat for 2 hrs with my husband, 2 children and dog, really fun couple of hrs exploring parts of Birmingham you don't usually see, staff were friendly and informative, would highly recommend!

Had a really lovely 3 hour trip today round Icknield and Soho loops, and down to the university and back. Saw Herons and lots of interesting buildings that can't be seen from anywhere but boats. The boat was easy and quiet to drive, as well as comfortable for our group of six. The Go Boat staff were super friendly and helpful too. Loved it. All made for a very special, memorable day.

I had some visitors come to Birmingham and had no idea what to do with them in the city but I found out we could book a self-riding boat for at least an hour. Pros: - nice view, we took route 2 the blue route and it wasn’t too busy - it was a fun experience trying to steer the boats on our own - since it rained at different points, they offered umbrellas in a compartment in the boat - we saw someone else’s boat break down and the employees came quite quickly to rescue them and take them back to the starting point - the boat has a table in the center and so we were allowed to bring food and have a small picnic Cons: - other than telling us how to move the boat we didn’t really get any other training or instructions, which may be an issue as some large boats need to pass by through bridges and we didn’t really know what was proper etiquette - weird location, kinda hard to find. On google maps, it took us to Wagamama which was close by instead Overall, a super fun experience and worth the money.

Good experience using a boat for the the first time. Really easy and simple to use and navigate and not a bad price £85.00 for 1 hour. ( Tip - get your own food and drinks before arriving and enjoy the scenery)

If you are after an experience that’s fun yet relaxing at the same time, Go Boat is for you. We took a boat out for 2 hours, sailing southwards towards Birmingham University and then back up through Brindley and around Port Loop 🌊 After a safety briefing and quick sailing lesson for Luke (our captain), we were off! Don’t worry folks, the electric engine reaches a whopping top speed of 4mph so it really is a safe and leisurely affair. It was lovely to see the city from a different perspective and experience the friendly and supportive community on the canals. Why aren’t we this happy on roads and pavements?! 🤷🏽‍♀️ The boats hold up to 8 people with a large table in the centre perfect for a picnic. Make sure you remember to take a bag for rubbish and be careful nothing blows away; I nearly lost my plastic glass of plonk a few times. There are limits on the amount of alcohol you can consume for obvious safety reasons, so do check what is acceptable over on Go Boat’s website. 2 hours was just right 👌🏽 were keeping hydrated, but that also meant we were putting our bladders to the test. If you’re a little hesitant, we can assure you that it was super easy to navigate the canals and returning the boat was hassle free. If you do get in bother, you can call the team and they’ll come out to help you. They’ve got everything covered 👏🏽 This was a fantastic experience which we wouldn’t hesitate to book again over the summer months. It’s well and truly ingrained in our memories for all the right reasons ☺️
