Terrible terrible leasing experience. I’m giving one star because that’s the lowest rating I can give. Leasing office is super non responsive and not accountable at all. They promised to give a $500 gift card if I signed with them within a certain amount of time after the tour. I did. I lived there for 15 months. Moved out for over a month and I still haven’t gotten my gift card. I followed up again last week and Finn finally said he would be at Fox Plaza this week and I could pick it up. By then, I’ve already followed up on the gift card for over 3 months, ok, what can I say, fine with that. Went there on Monday, but he wasn’t there. The person with the gift card, Breana, also wasn’t there. The leasing agent there said I could come the next day. I specifically asked what time, and she said “anytime”. Fine. I went again on Tuesday, and again, Breana wasn’t there. The leasing agent asked me to go again on Thursday……I couldn’t even talk to anyone that’s handling the gift card so I had to leave a voicemail to ask them to call me. I was literally shivering from controlling my anger when I left them the voicemail. Later in the afternoon, Finn texted me asking me to go to their China Basin location by 5 pm to pick up the gift card. That pissed me off. It’s been 16 months of waiting including 3 months of follow-up. I attempted to pick up the gift card twice using the availability they gave me, and now he wanted me to go to a farther location to pick up the gift card the third time?!?! Would you go if you were me?! Ridiculous. I asked him to call me but he didn’t have the audacity. By now the gift card is not even the problem, it’s about the tremendous amount of time I’ve wasted, the frustration, stress, emotional damage they’ve caused me. On Wednesday which was yesterday, I called them again. It was around 10:30 am and the leasing agent on the phone, Jamie, said Breana would probably call me in the next hour or so. Waited but no call. I called them again at 1:30 pm and still no Breana. The leasing agent, Joey, tried to get Breana on the phone. He didn’t get an answer from her so he had to end our call, but he promised that Breana would call me and resolve my issue by end of the day. (Btw Joey was super nice. He understood my frustration, heard me venting, comforted me when I cried out of all the anger and frustration accumulated through this whole thing. I appreciated him so much as he was the only person that cared and tried to help.) Then the day passed, still no call. This morning I called them again asking them to put Breana on the phone. It was Jamie again and she said she’ll let Breana know that I called. It was what they said yesterday, and the call didn’t happen. Side note, when they said they would call me, I couldn’t even schedule my client call at work because it’s exceptionally difficult to get a hold of them. I had to prioritize their call and work around their schedule. I knew this wouldn’t work. It’ll be again wasting of my time so I got mad. And then, Jamie, she hung up on me. I’ve been super patient, understanding and accommodating. It took me 16 months of waiting, 3 months of follow-ups, 2 attempted trips, a whole day of waiting Breana’s phone call when two different people on their team promised Breana would call me by eod which didn’t happen, to get mad and she hung up on me. There were so many times that I could have sworn but I didn’t. I kept all my comms respectful, without even one rude word. I even controlled myself to the point where I shivered. I just complained, and bang, she hung up on me. Bravo, Jamie. Bravo, Fox Plaza. It’s 1:16 pm Thursday afternoon, and still no gift card, no signs of Breana calling. I’ve been super nice and patient but you guys just kept pushing my limit. Thanks Fox Plaza, for teaching me such an important life lesson. Can’t appreciate it more

Recently completed touring, applying, and moving into a unit at Fox Plaza. Overall was an easy & straightforward process, and so far very pleased about the unit & community. Special thanks to Karl (leasing agent) for helping me throughout the process.
Thief in Package room!!! And the leasing office do NOTHING. The package system at Fox Plaza is the package room with password, but it is quite easy to follow someone or enter the package room if the door was unlocked. I lost over 20-30 packages after COVID when the ESSEX leasing office discontinue the in person package system. I wrote to Essex Fox Plaza about this issue and they haven't response for almost 7 days (the automatic email replied that "Our support team will respond within 48 hours"). And also didn't reply my second email that was sent over 4 days. The thief and stolen package happens very often to many residents in this building. Please be aware!
Edit September 2021: Elevators still are down most of the time. Leading to people breaking COVID protocols. Management clearly doesn't care at all. Pros - The amazing Views - Staff is kind and helpful - Added a new courier room for packages because they realized so many guests were complaining about missing packages Cons - Mice infestation in many floors, although the management is very uptight about it - Not enough storage compartments in the apartments, specially in the kitchen. Like for real, I can't fit in the bigger stoves anywhere - Guests don't get duplicate keys for more than two weeks - Elevators are super occupied like at least once a week, causing people to break covid protocols
Housekeeping: -Elevators can get busy during times on the weekend, expect to wait possibly up to 5-10 minutes. -Definitely make sure they clean your apartment after your viewing and before you move in, and make sure to check that your appliances work. We've had a few maintenance issues that resolved within about 24 hrs after sending in the request unless it's the weekend (they seem to come at the same time, around 10-11:30am). - ventilation doesn't seem to be as good as I can smell my neighbor's weed at night and his coffee brewing at 5am..even with the windows closed. -trash room can get messy at times. -Laundry's good, never had to wait for a machine (you do need to download an app) -If you're in a studio, it does get quite stuffy in there (~70-73F) if you don't open the window. Some apartments have the sun setting on them so it gets really hot around evening time. -Package room recently installed. Requires code to get in. -The blinds periodically comes off, so make sure to request maintenance for that. -Not too jazzed about the flooring as I see it easily picks up scuff marks and scratches. Ambiance: - View is great but sometimes it is so windy in the balcony since we're so high up, that we can't even enjoy being outside. - Neighbors are ok. Since it's rent-controlled, you see interesting characters. Parking: -Since it's still during Covid-times, never had a hard time finding a spot on the lowest floor (G2). -Tandem parking.
