Avoid Kate Baldwin, she lacks competency and emotional maturity. She refused to take my pain seriously, she was not interested in my medical history and she dismissed my debilitating pain as some evidence based bio-psychosocial pain. She prescribed me inappropriate exercises such as aggressive hyperextension, pushed me into completing exercise programs against my will, causing me horrific injuries and consequently destroying my life. At that time I was not aware that apparently the private University of Notre Dame here in Perth where Kate got her credentials has a reputation as the buy-your-own-degree university aka you can get in with enough money no matter your scores. This combined with Kate’s unwillingness to acknowledge pain as being a genuine warning signal of mechanical and structural injury instead of some bio-psychosocial in-your-mind pain, together with her competitive personality to push past human limits makes her perfect candidate for mismanaging patients and causing them further harm. I naively thought that because she’s used to be a triathlete that she’ll be a competent physio. Unfortunately nothing could be further from the truth, she’s blind to her own blindness, totally unaware of her poor clinical reasoning, and her reckless approach to my pain and my concerns make her a danger to the public safety, and I’m afraid that it’s only a matter of time before she destroys someone else’s life as well. She should not be practicing.

Kate and the team at EM provide exceptional leading and evidence-based care. When I first saw Kate, I was broken (literally) and incredibly frustrated. Kate used her extensive knowledge and skills to help me get back on my feet. Despite being met with several challenges along what was a very long road to recovery, Kate never gave up and treated me with such respect and professionalism. She meticulously managed my load and always listened and responded to my concerns. I wouldn’t be where I am without her and I cannot thank her enough for everything she has done and continues to do to support me!
These guys know their stuff and have a great team there. Kate and Nick have been central part of my prep for a Rotto solo crossing and Ironman WA. Targeted specific functional strength training from a PhD in physio (Kate) and a triathlete who races pro division and has crossed the tape first in the full IM distance (Nick). They mix up and tailor sessions to build and strengthen the muscle groups you will use on race day and will mitigate injuries in the lead up to it (+ they have the staff to sort you out if/when you do injure yourself) . The group coached sessions end up being cheaper than going to the gym coz you can claim them if you have private health.
Kate has been fantastic across the multiple services I've used. Running analysis, strength assessment and coaching. Group fitness classes are the best I've done. My bike fit with Nick and Kate was a great experience. I learnt a lot and my comfort on the bike increased significantly. I was really happy with the whole experience. I thoroughly enjoy every visit to EM!
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff across many different disciplines of health: physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, bike fitting, dietetics and fun!
