Amazing customer service and ambiance for Sunday brunch!

Great food and drinks!! Everything was fresh and delicious!! The blackberry lavender latte is the bomb! Must try!!

Soooo good ! I made a reservation online . It was raining so the outside was closed but as soon as I walked in I was sat . Got my drinks ten minutes later , and food like another ten minutes later my food was brought out . The food was so fresh and so yummy . The entire staff was so sweet and so nice . They even accommodated our table because we had a car seat and they were able to sit us in a better spot . This place is great . Can’t wait to come back when the weather is nicer

I'd really, REALLY like to give this café 5 stars, but I just can't. The food was amazing, the servers were friendly and attentive, the outdoor area was really cool, and the price was about what you would expect for a brunch place. The cats roaming around didn't bother me, but the sights and smells of their piles of feces on the fake grass outside interfered with the experience. It's not what I want when I'm eating and drinking. If they cleaned the turf and kept the areas around the tables free/clean of this, it would've been perfect. I'll be second guessing any future visits to this place, unfortunately.

MUST VISIT! - great atmosphere and service from the candlelight team. I loved the back garden area. My chicken club is the best I’ve had in a long time, and great value. I will be back!

I LOVED the Candlelight when it was on St. Mary's and went for years. I still love that it's a safe place for LGBTQ and it's legacy in SA is irrefutable, especially with so few LGBTQ establishments in the city. The old place was one-of-a-kind and I'd take every out of towner there. Grungy and homey and friendly casual but ROMANTIC. Always over-priced for what you got, especially the wine, but a great date place. Then they moved behind the old location to a strange narrow alley. Why did they think an out door place where you order everything on your fone would work? Maybe they had no choice granted, but it's lost the magic, the atmosphere is gone. People gone. Food is the same but the reason we paid high prices was as a LGBTQ friendly wine bar it was a gem. A landmark. I loved the garden in the old place and its atmosphere, I don't find the same here. Just like Carmen it moved and was never the same. It tries but it's clinical and has no vibe. It was never really a coffee house, it was a wine bar, over-priced but where you'd meet your LGBTQ+ friends and feel safe. The staff behind the bar always had a great attitude. This outdoor version lost what made The Candlelight special and has zero appeal. Too cold or too hot, no desire to really linger for hours like in the former. I want to give this high grades because I support the ethos and necessity of such a venue but it just doesn't work. If you want a safe space for LGBTQ tho it still is and I would go for that reason but that reason alone - the rest doesn't live up to its former charm.

Wonderful experience with equally as wonderful food. It was a bit chilly out that day, but we had heaters surrounding us & I got myself a delicious hot chocolate. We enjoyed cat views and an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere while we chowed down on our food.

Simply the best brunch spot in San Antonio. Family-friendly, excellent food and $2 mimosas, what more could you want on the weekend. The parking is a nightmare for all of North Saint Mary Street; but the YMCA has a massive lot within a few minutes walk. Now is the time for the community to keep supporting the businesses during the construction.

Impressively Terrible. Had a reservation which they lost so we waited an additional hour to be seated. 45 minutes to get drinks. Over an hour for our food to come out. I ordered chicken and waffles. I paid almost $20 for a cold, pathetic, quarter inch thick waffle and two terrible chicken tenders; one the size of a chicken nugget under the mountain of breading, the other full of cartilage and vien, both tough and overcooked. They also forgot the syrup and honey. Took another 20 minutes for my partner to get his food. Brought up issues to staff, who said they would check on our order and never returned. I will say one girl who was not our waitress saw we were having terrible service and offered us a free mimosa which was very considerate of her. I couldn't be paid to eat here again.

I came before and had an amazing time. This time they were truly off. The food was awesome but service was bad. But every business has their up and downs. However, I definitely will come back.

UPDATED REVIEW: Updated review based on the owner's reply to my original review. They said that my review was about losing a reservation, but in my post here I mention nothing about losing a reservation. They also said my partner posted a review too but he never did- so I am wondering if they assume that someone else is my partner, which is problematic to make that assumption. Really sad that the owner does not actually LISTEN to their customers/reviews and instead get defensive to the point that they are not even properly responding to the correct complaints. ORIGINAL REVIEW: My partner who paid the bill got charged an extra fee to his credit card that was not on the initial bill he paid. He did not leave a tip since service and food were horrible. If appears they gave themselves their own tip based on this charge. Very deceitful and dishonest. The food was mediocre. The breakfast potatoes were not crispy and seemed undercooked and strange seasoning. We asked to substitute the toast for a bagel and the plate was brought out with the toast which is disappointing since you order directly through their website/app so shouldn’t be room for errors. Service was slow- they say to push button for service but nobody came out when pushed. Definitely not worth coming again for a meal that an amateur home cook could better cook with basic groceries at home.

The menu is short and simple, but so is the flavor. The location is in a hectic at with limited st parking, it’s not an issue if your enjoy walking. The place itself is super cute and the ambience is calming with the visual art deco The wait staff was amazing and attentive . The food is overpriced and lacks so much. Ordered chicken n waffles, 1 basic waffle and 2 burnt chicken strips . They are limited on the powder sugar and honey/syrup. My friend received side syrup and we were convinced it tasted weird . Spicy but weren’t sure if it was meant to be spicy, the other tasted like burnt coffee 😅 I wish I could give it a higher rating but … yea the place is cute.

They have $2 mimosas if you dine and a bottle 🍾 for $12. The service is excellent. They are very generous and attentive. Huge outdoor patio with umbrellas for shade. IG- love _to_exist
