The owner is poor in spirit. I have spent countless hours, money, and time at this establishment. The baristas and products themselves are great, but the owner will trash talk customers for “sitting here too long” despite bringing in revenue. Don’t have a coffee shop if you are against coffee shop culture! Taking my business elsewhere

Hi Chloe, thank you for the feedback. I am sincerely sorry that a private operational meeting made you feel unwelcome; that was never our intention. We love coffee shop culture — it’s why we built this space. However, we were discussing the very real challenge of keeping a large venue in Capitol Hill open. As we’ve watched many neighboring cafes close, we have to be realistic: high rent and fair wages cannot be sustained when seats are occupied for 4+ hours on a single transaction. We aren't 'trash talking' customers; we are actively trying to solve the problem of how to survive so we can remain a community hub for everyone. We hope you can understand that we are trying to protect the business so we can keep serving you.
The pastries did not taste dropped-shipped, coffee was delicious, cozy and hip atmosphere.

The people and the space make it a wonderful environment for any experience. I've been here for a cup of coffee, trivia night, and it recently hosted my birthday (shout out to Tony!). We can't say enough good things about Gearhouse and its crew.
