Bar Up

Just under an hour ago i was aggressively shoved out of the bar because “the girls i was with wouldn’t stop looking at the body guard” i politely told the body guard that it was probably an accident. But he tightly gripped my shoulder brought my closer and aggressively told me to tell the girls to stop. It was at this point I asked if he could take his hand off my shoulder because it hurt. When i placed my hand on his hand to remove it he shoved me into the crowd, grabbed me without prompt and viciously shoved me out of the venue. Keep in mind I was sober, and that none of the other body guards cared to listen to the story. The worst part was that he raised his hand at my girlfriend who was pleading him to stop, this is not acceptable at all. If you bring your significant other here be safe, the guards have no oversight and are clearly on a power trip.

The bar itself is a great experience although the security team (bouncer) at this venue is undeniably horrible. No respect for others or any consideration. I will not be returning to this bar as it was a traumatising experience on my behalf. Man handling a sober man when he did not want to be touched is not acceptable. I would understand if we were rowdy or were miss-behaving. Although during this time we were not.

When I arrived I felt great that there were visibly queer people like me just having a great time and then a bunch were asked to leave for ‘wearing singlets’ and other such utter nonsense made up to excuse the fact this club wants the vibe to be very straight and male-gazey. So ridiculous, it’s 2022! The world is better with freedom and fun and safety, this was super disappointing :(
